DROP OFF TULAMBEN

Tulamben Drop-Off is one of the most popular sites of Bali as the wall features an impressive underwater topography. The rock formations decorated with multitude of corals –especially gorgonian fans- are the consequence of lava flow originating from Mount Agung’s eruption in 1963. The Drop Off is at the opposite end of the bay, about a 15mins slow walk, from the USAT Liberty Shipwreck and this dive site is adequate for different dive levels depending on experience.

The dive starts from shore on a sandy bottom slope ideal for spotting nudibranchs and other curious macro critters. Still shallow you will have a great chance to enjoy a huge school of fusiliers. Following the contour of the beach you suddenly encounter a vertical wall that starts at around 15m. and goes to 80m. You will definitely like the incredible landscape sculpted by many overhanging rocks and we will be very happy to show you the famous and rare disco clam.

Visibility in this area is usually best in the morning, around 20m, due to abundant rich nutrients in the water. Boat diving can be arranged as well in case you may want to explore further areas that are not reachable when entering from shore.
