I've had my open water certification for less than a year so I don't have much experience yet. I chose to do a refresher course with this center as it had good reviews. The trainer Mr. Pascal was committed to providing me with consistent, world-class diving training exceeding all my expectations. He revealed himself to be a person with high professional experience and extreme human sensitivity and he demonstrated this in several dives. He immediately recognized my weaknesses and dedicated his experience with passion and professionalism so that I reached a high level of knowledge and experience to the point of weakening my insecurities, making me feel confident and capable of managing any unusual situation, thus making my experience submarine even more comfortable and pleasant. I recommend this Padi diving instructor and training center to any novice diver.

  Great experiences and amazing people!  - My partner and I stumbled upon La Bila as we were looking for 2 days of diving in Amed. We stayed 3 nights at La Bila resort and were lucky... read more to meet the owner Katut. Katut is very hospitable and friendly and helped us with loads of information and fast reply’s. We had a great time, everyone was extremely friendly. Room was clean and the AC worked great. Perfect for us as we were primarily diving. Katut also hqs a taxi company and helped us with our transportation from Ubud to Amed for a very favorable price when it suited us. We dove with their dive shop and here we met the dive shop owner Pascal.
We dove 4 times in 2 days, first day with Pascal and second day with a local DM Kadek.
We are dive Instructors ourselves so we wanted to dive very specific dives. These needs were met and we had great dives to the USS Liberty and other great dive sites, including a secret location 🤫
For a great price Pascal also brought a camera and took great photos of us and the marine life!
We got thorough briefings and the safety standards were very good, dives guides knew the sites like the back of their hand.
All is shore diving but we hardly carried anything ourselves and our guides were very observant and had great eyes. The dive shop also has nitrox and I recommend doing all dives on nitrox. Highly recommend both dive shop and accommodation!

Ketu, the owner kindly called the airport for me to ask if it had showed up. It had and was advised it would follow on to La Bila the following day. Ketu said if it didn't, he had a pick up the following day and he would collect it for me. The following morning he took my number so he could contact me to let me know if my bag arrived.
Every morning I was out by 7:30. They kindly let me have breakfast at 7:00.
The room was spacious and clean, with a comfortable bed.
The shower was powerful with fresh hot water.
Each morning you have the option to have your room cleaned.
In reception there are two water containers to top up water bottles.

From start to finish they make sure you are knowledgable and safe in your capabilities, and will make you check your gear like you’re back taking your open water cert.

From pickup, dropoff, equipment, snacks, and customer care, they will attend to all of your needs. Pascal is a very funny french guy who will keep things interesting :).

The dive instructor is very knowledgeable and will provide personalized training to ensure you are learning optimally. He will also take qualified divers on amazing dives at various locations around Bali. This is where I learned to dive and I will definitely be back for more in the future. The location of La Bila is ideal as well because there are many stored restaurants and bars nearby and the beach is a short walk across the street. I would highly recommend staying here.

Also for the rest La Bila is awesome. Ketut and his team will do everything to enjoy you stay. He picked us up from Denpasar, organized a great tour to Mount Batur and the tickets to the boat to Gili. Breakfast and all the food is lovely, rooms are very spacious and clean. They even clean it every day if you want to. Bed is comfortable and shower hot and high pressure (not everywhere in Indonesia ).

If you want to see Bali in from a different exciting perspective above and under water just go to La Bila Amed. You'll definitely enjoy every minute!

The diving equipment is in great shape (no leaky BCDs, quality masks and proper fins and boots), the accommodation is comfortable and the food was tasty and to top it all off, hanging out together during the surface intervals was a lot of fun.

  My brother is a free diving instructor in Amed and luckily he introduced me to Juan and Iluh at La Bila Dive Resort. I only intended stayin in Amed for... read more a week or so but I spent nearly four weeks in this relaxed and lovely village and did a total of 25 amazing dives with La Bila.

This PADI Dive Resort is a small-family owned business and it’s definitely the perfect place to get the most out of your diving holidays. Don’t imagine a super busy dive center with several boats and cars, on the contrary, As I like to say that best perfumes come in small bottles. Both Iluh and Juan are the managers and diving instructors at La Bila thus you are gonna be diving with them. Basically they make sure you can have proper dives without any bottom time restriction besides of course when your SPG marks the reserve level. No rush, consistent briefings, always showing willingness to help and support you with feedbacks and new diving techniques.

Their essence is to run diving activities in a private way: a few times guests, that had already booked, arrived and they asked me if it would be fine for me to take a one or two days break so that the new divers could be together and no one else joining. Later on, they evaluate divers and see if from the perspective of experience, certification level and air consumption they can join together, whereas max. four persons in one group and actually was never my case as I dove a few times with just two more guys. From previous experiences that I have been diving in 8-persons group, this is just fantastic as me myself realize how much I improved my diving skills over these last three weeks in Amed. I did my PADI Enriched Air Nitrox with Iluh and together with Juan both have been really helpful to show me how to reduce weights, be optimally weighted and understand how to breathe during the final safety stop.

They use a proper Minivan with A/C and no open air trucks, lunch, snacks & beverages are included, therefore the price-quality relationship is really great. Depending on weather conditions they may suggest you starting times & locations though basically they will ask if you like to sleep long or you rather wake up early. Overall La Bila just scores above the average in all areas and next time I know for sure that I will be staying as well with them as the restaurant food, breakfast and the staff are incredibly nice. Being interested in underwater photography, La Bila tailor each of my dives to be able to photograph new things. Whether it be Macro or larger subjects Juan and Iluh are experts at finding them. During my trip last week I was able to photograph Nudies, Pigmy Seahorses, white tip reef sharks, turtles, moray eels & Groupers to name a few.

Iluh is super professional and there is always space for a lot of fun, she explains everything calm and no rush at all. My friend had to jump in the pool as well because even being a certified diver; he had been almost 15 years without diving! Therefore, he had to refresh his diving skills and once we both were ready to go, we change tanks and went to explore the shipwreck during two dives. The underwater landscape around the US Liberty is just awesome and we both were fascinated about how diverse the marine life is down there. No big groups, just he and me, Iluh make sure that we would get a full big picture about the dive site, in between dives, we got snacks & beverages and then later back at La Bila we could order food, which was as well included in the price. Towels, beach taxes and everything is basically included so no hidden costs or whatsoever. We want to thank as well to Juan and Ketut, especially the last one brought us back to Canggu for a really faire price. The whole staff at La Bila are very kind and now we know for sure where we are gonna stay next time we visit Bali!   Stayed with Juan and Iluh for only a short while back in October (sorry for the delay here in writing this, life isn't as relaxed as when we were with... read more you guys). We booked to completed our advanced open water dive and I'm so glad we did.

Firstly. The accommodation. it had everything you needed for basic pad to crash in, I only wanted a bed and washroom facilities but the main thing it was clean and kept that way. Honestly, after a day of diving that's all you really wanted.

Secondly. The food. The next most important thing to me and this didn't disappoint either. It was reasonably priced compared to the rest of town but offered a friendly atmosphere as everyone was there to have fun and enjoy a diving experience.Additionally, on every dive food was provided a local restaurant or where this wasn't possible, provided for a local super market. Not once would we of gone hungry or did the quality of the experience fade.

Lastly. The diving. Now my other half is pretty nervous when it comes to the deep blue and I don't think we could of sourced a more friendly, encouraging dive center. Iluh has a vast local knowledge of environment both on land and sea and here demeanor was so calming it was more like diving with friends rather than the teacher/student relationship. Thanks to Ketut as well, a friendly character who drove us to all the different sites, always on time, and always with a smile.

Both of us have discussed returning to some fun dives because of the boxes you'd want were ticked.

We always felt very safe under her supervision. She always explained concepts and the exercises we would have to do underwater beforehand in good detail so that we understood them.

Apart from being a great dive school, La Bila also has a great crew of people. The resort manager Juan is extremely communicative, helpful, and flexible in arranging extra activities for us.

We also had a fantastic driver who went the extra mile to try and bring us to all the nice places in Bali on our last day.

The accommodation of La Bila itself is simple but has everything you need for a dive stay - a clean and comfortable room to rest in while rejuvenating between diving days. This is not the place to spend entire days in if you are not doing other activities throughout the day.

Here are the main points as to why I recommend this company:
- The diving in the area is excellent, allowing for a diverse range of coral reefs, muck diving and wrecks (Kubu and USAT Liberty).
- The instructors were very flexible and tailored the dive sites visited based on what I wanted to see.
- While most resorts in Indonesia tend to set maximum dive times of 55 minutes, our experienced group frequently spend up to 75 - 80 minutes per dive, meaning there was way more value-for-money for each dive.
- Both Iluh and Juan are very professional and provide great customer service. they are usually happy to have a drink and swap stories with you after dives - which is always great if you are a solo traveler.
- the food portions at the restaurant are large and diversity of food is good - because sometimes you are craving mashed potato and a schnitzel after a dive, instead of fried rice.
- resort staff are also very polite, attentive and friendly
